s10 FE -- Outlook email won't sync

I've had the s10 FE for about a week, during which time it updated to UI 7.  A couple of days ago I noticed that it was no longer syncing my Outlook account, automatically or manually, using the Samsung email app. I cleared the cache, deleted and attempted to set up the account again-- more on that in a moment--- uninstalled and reinstalled the app, and finally did a reset of the tablet. 

None of that had any effect. Attempts to set up the account again resulted in either a "too many requests" notification, a "contacting server" loop, a black screen,  or a successful validation that nonetheless would stop working after an initial sync.

I've tried several other email apps. Some of them did a better job of getting to a handshake with the server, but they all stopped downloading mail after the initial setup.

For what it's worth, the Samsung email app on my phone, with Android 14 and UI 6.1,  is working without a hitch.

Any suggestion would be appreciated.

I stand corrected. Any idea why outlook emails won't sync with any email app?
