I recently replaced an S8 with an S25, and along with that came the switch from Samsung to Google Messages. I was able to transfer all texts to the new phone except for group messages.
Is it possible to transfer group messages to the S25? Do I need to put Samsung Messages on the new phone and try to transfer again? Or Google Messages on the S8? I'm nervous about messing something up and losing the history...
Try downloading the Samsung messages app from the Galaxy store. It is not installed as/or made the default messaging app as the Google messages is now, but it is still officially there to use. Then transfer those messages using Smart Switch. In Samsung messages, it should default to changing over to SMS/MMS for those group messages. And back up your messages beforehand just in case, although I see nothing that would cause a loss of the messages overall.
